MadV was an early YouTuber whose videos included music, illusions and collaboration videos. Notably, he organized the "One World" collab which was at one point the most responded video on YouTube.
In the later half of the 2010’s YouTube began putting a greater emphasis on international accessibility over accessibility for the deaf. This change in policy, alienated the Deaf Community who began to criticize the increasing inadequacy of closed captions on the website. The ensuing events would bring about the rise and fall of the feature known as community contributions.
In August 2008, Google finally initiated the migration of the closed captions infrastructure from Google Video to YouTube. The following months are nothing short of crazy! Editor improvements, caption translation, automatic captioning and more... A lot of heart and soul was poured into making video more accessible than ever!
